The Tube Sheet Pit Gauge® is designed to fit inside most ½ OD (0.500 or 12.7mm) Boiler Tube, where the resulting Inside Diameter is just over (0.375 or 9.5mm).
The Tube Sheet Pit Gauge® is designed to fit inside most ½ OD (0.500 or 12.7mm) Boiler Tube, where the resulting Inside Diameter is just over (0.375 or 9.5mm). Without having stated the obvious, the Tube Sheet Pit Gauge will also test larger ID tube where reaching into the Tube is necessary.
The overall length of the Tube Sheet Pit Gauge® is 23 ½ (600mm), with a working length of 12 ½ (320mm) on the minimum diameter and 20 (500mm) on 1 ½ ID (38mm) Tube. However, Specials can be ordered to reach into tubes much farther, within practical limits which we consider to be 6 (1.8m).
The Axially Mounted Dial Indicator is able to rotate through 360°, thus the Barrel of the Pit Gauge can rotated to any radial position. This allows the operator to reach into the tube ID, to measure Pits, allowing the operator to have a clear view the Dial face. The Contact surface, from where the Contact Point extends, is simply aligned by the operator, against the target point. A reference surface (flat) is positioned on the Dial Indicator Mount, to provide the operator with a visual and physical reference for his radial position.
With no pressure on the Plunger of the Dial Indicator (Metric, Imperial, or Digital), the Contact Point retracts into the Barrel (as illustrated in the view above), allowing the operator to quickly and easily reposition the Pit Gauge for multiple readings. Like all Western Instruments Pit Gauge Dial Indicators, the operator pushes the plunger to obtain a pit depth reading. The Tube Sheet Pit Gauge® has a maximum measurement range of up to 0.150 (3.8mm), and resolves to 0.001 or 0.01mm.
The Tube Sheet Pit Gauge is a specialty product, in limited production. Its price reflects its intended use by a skilled technician or junior engineer. The Tube Sheet Pit Gauge is supplied as a kit (as illustrated) with; the Custom Carrying Case, Hardware, 1 extra Contact Point, and Operator Instructions. Standard models are supplied with either a Metric or Imperial Dial Indicator, and with all of Western Instruments Pit Gauges, the Digital Indicator is an option.
